Legal luminary ignites passion for law among Katsina students

Barrister Abdul Mohammed Rafindadi, SAN, a distinguished lawyer, has embarked on a mission to inspire the next generation of legal minds in Katsina State. Partnering with the Katsina State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education and the Katsina Innovative Thinkers Initiatives (KITI), he has designed an annual programme to cultivate intellectual growth and legal awareness among secondary school students.
This initiative includes an essay writing competition, a spirited debate platform, and an engaging quiz competition, aiming to foster intellectual growth and legal acumen within the Katsina secondary school community.
Barrister Rafindadi, during the third annual Debate, Essay, and Quiz Competition, shared his journey from humble beginnings to becoming a champion of justice. He emphasised the importance of viewing law not just as an academic pursuit but as a tool for positive societal change.
The State Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General, Hajiya Fadila Mohammed Dikko, commended the initiative, stating it empowers young minds to engage meaningfully with the law, nurturing future legal minds passionate about positive change.
The President of KITI, Malam Yazid Ahmed, expressed optimism about the initiative's potential impact, believing that fostering interest in law at a young age contributes to the development of informed and responsible citizens.
The 3rd edition of the Abdul Mohammed Rafindadi, SAN debate competition saw participation from over 160 students across the state, with winners from Dutsinma, Katsina, and Musawa zones.
Ameera El Harith of CDSS Dutsinma Zone claimed the 1st position in the debate themed "Reforming Drug Addicts is Better than Punishing them," followed by Zaharaddeen Aliyu of El-Ladan Community Secondary School Katsina Zone, and Abdul Iliyasu of Community CAIS Musawa Zone in the 2nd and 3rd positions, respectively.
Beyond providing awards, Yazid stressed that the competition acts as a catalyst for educational improvement, motivating students to strive for excellence.
Distinguished individuals, including Haj. Zainab Musawa, Commissioner of the Ministry of Women Affairs, and Barr. Fadila Dikko attended the event, supporting the initiative's goal of nurturing future legal talents and promoting positive change.
